Lash lift or lash extensions: how to choose at Pretty Face Esthetics in Myrtle Beach, SC

The short version

A lash lift curls and tints the lashes you already have. Nothing is attached. You wake up with more visible lashes and then you forget about it until it grows out.

Lash extensions attach individual extensions to your natural lashes. You get length and density that your own lashes cannot produce, and in exchange you come back for fills every two to three weeks to keep the set looking even.

Neither one is the better service. They are answers to different questions. The real question is how much maintenance you actually want to sign up for.

Choose the lash lift if

Your natural lashes are already a decent length but point straight out or down, so nobody can see them. Lifting them is the single biggest change you can make.

You want something that looks like you on a very good day, not like you are wearing lashes. The tint is what does most of the visible work here, darkening fine lash tips that were always there.

You do not want a standing appointment. There is no fill cycle. When the lift relaxes, you decide whether to come back, and nothing looks unfinished in the meantime.

Choose extensions if

You want length or density your own lashes do not have, or you want a look that reads clearly as done, from soft and wearable through to full and glam.

You have an event, a trip, or a season where you want to skip mascara entirely and still look finished in photos.

You are willing to keep the fill cycle. Extensions shed with your natural lash cycle, so the set thins gradually and a fill at two or three weeks brings it back. If you skip fills, the set does not stay put, it just gets patchy.

What both of them require from you

Both services want your lashes clean and free of oil, and both are unhappy about rubbing your eyes. Extensions are stricter: oil-based products, waterproof mascara, and steam all shorten how long the set holds.

The full pre-care and aftercare for both lives on the care page, in English and Spanish. It is worth reading before you book rather than after, because a couple of the rules apply the day before your appointment.

Still not sure

Plenty of clients start with the lift, live with it for a cycle, and then move to extensions once they know what they actually want. Going in that order costs you nothing and answers the question honestly.

You can also just ask. Martha will look at your natural lashes and tell you which service will do more for them, in English or Spanish, before you commit to anything.

Side by side

Both services are performed one-on-one by Martha at the Myrtle Beach studio. Current pricing and appointment length for each are on their service pages.

Questions clients ask

Is a lash lift better than lash extensions?

Neither is better. A lift restyles the lashes you have and needs no upkeep. Extensions add length and density and need a fill every two to three weeks. The right one depends on how much maintenance you want.

How long does a lash lift last?

Usually six to eight weeks, after which the lashes gradually return to their natural direction. There is no fill cycle, so nothing looks unfinished while it grows out.

How often do lash extensions need fills?

Every two to three weeks. Extensions shed with your natural lash cycle, and a fill restores the fullness that has shed since your last visit.

Can I switch from a lash lift to extensions?

Yes. Many clients try a lift first and move to extensions once they know what they want. Tell Martha you have had a recent lift so she can check the curl before applying a set.

Do lash extensions damage your natural lashes?

Applied one extension to one natural lash at an appropriate weight, and removed properly rather than pulled, they are designed to shed with your own lash cycle. Rubbing and picking at them is what causes problems.

Can I book a lash appointment in Spanish in Myrtle Beach?

Yes. Martha handles the consultation, the service, and the aftercare instructions in Spanish for anyone who prefers it.
